Hypnotic Neon Signs - 2

I have featured the work of UK designer Mr Whaite before, in Hypnotic Neon Signs. I love his work so much that I had to check on what he has been up to lately. He never disappoints. He combines cult movies with neon signs, converting them into spectacular animated gifs. He always thought…

The Perfect Fall Flat

Smoking slippers are the new ballet flats. Retailers are reporting that the loafers-in all colours, price points, and styles-are in high demand this season. Not surprising that we've been spotting the Hugh Hefner-style loungers all throughout the fashion weeks. Street style favourite Giovanna Battaglia was spotted wearing a multicoloured fleur de lis pair in New York…

Inspiration Turned on Its Head

Iconic cinema is as part of modern culture as fashion, art and media! Beyond mere entertainment, for a century its power to influence perceptions of the world has been astounding! Everyone has their favourite movies, actors and actresses, and big screen moments! And phrases like “The name is Bond”, “Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn” and “Life is like a box of chocolates”…

Long skirts

Somehow when I saw this trend emerging a while back I was a bit hesitant toward it, and my first thought that at 1.62 tall, I am FAR too short to be wearing long skirts. Especially with a pair of flat sandals in summer. But the colours and the way they draped just looked so beautiful!

The Eternal Light of Being

There is no better way to be in your body, in the present, than looking at the stars. And where I live outside of Grahamstown - with only pinpricks of distant man-made light in the distance - on nights when the moon is still young and slim, the sky drops to just above my head - so filled with stars that it almost becomes white. And it's exactly in those moments when forever comes alive - when eternity is visible.

Now we all think of eternity as something nebulous, spiritual,…

Rihanna-Vogue UK November 2011

Rihanna is not only rocking the music industry, she now has all the major fashion magazines bowing down to her. She looks great on the cover and I love the blue sky background. The bob seems to be everywhere and by the time Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe hits the big screen, hair stylists better be on top of their bob skills.

Not wanting to have to return to Cape Town he proposes to the court that he contribute to a community closer to home. He comes up with the idea to work with a children’s shelter to train youngsters in how to take photographs with…

Prada Rocket Shoes

Shoelosophy notes: Introducing Prada's S/S 2012 Rocket shoes. I love the detailing of the upper and the stiletto. As for the rocket lights, they are a  little indulgent. But hey, that's fashion. Overall it is a very impressive shoe.
