Shoji Tabuchi Theatre

The biggest showstopper is at Shoji Tabuchi's theatre in Branson, Missouri. It’s said that it’s not the performances on stage but the theatre's ritzy restrooms. Featuring intricate wainscoting, stained glass, fresh cut orchids at every granite and onyx pedestal sink, black Italian marble and gold fixtures, chandeliers and an Empire tin ceiling, the ladies' powder room is pure luxury. The gents' washroom is equally impressive, with black lion's head sinks, black leather chairs, a marble fireplace and even a billiard room with a hand-carved mahogany pool table.

Cafe Gray Deluxe

Considering its location on the 49th floor of the Upper House hotel at the Pacific Palace in Hong Kong. Great news about the Café Gray Deluxe would be expected, but while the view of Victoria Harbor from the restaurant is definitely eye catching, it’s the view from the glamorous toilets that will leave one gasping for air. The 270 degree stretch of the glistening Hong Kong skyline is visible from the windows of the glossy, Asian-influenced bathroom which is complemented by the reflection in the enormous mirror above the vanity, leaving guests feeling as if they're magically surrounded by a 360-degree panorama of the city.

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center

John Michael Kohler Arts Centre’s creative spirit has overflowed into the lavatories, with each of the six washrooms created by an individual artist using technology and materials from the Kohler collection.

Sheboygan, Wisconsin definitely transcends simple function whereby the attractively brilliant bathrooms range from the playful Tell Me Something I Don't Already Know family washroom by the Brooklyn artist Carter Kustera to the rich cobalt blue and white Sheboygan Men's Room by the New Yorker Ann Agee.

Rothesay Pier Loos

The males' public toilets on the pier at Rothesay on the Isle of Bute in Scotland are anything but simple. Commissioned in 1899, the beautifully preserved Victorian loos have won a host of national awards. The interior is a design victory incorporating mosaic floors, marble fittings, shiny copper pipework, enamelled alcoves and original glass-sided cisterns. Prince Charles is even a fan, having visited the loos in an "official" capacity.

Vanity Nightclub

The Vanity Nightclub proudly proclaims itself the prettiest place to go to the toilet in Las Vegas. At 185 sq metres and sporting six vanity stations, plush red settees, three-way mirrors and gorgeous cluster chandeliers, the women's restroom is just as upmarket as a beauty salon. When party princesses have finished grooming and smartening themselves up for the evening ahead, and actually want to use the facilities, they'll find 11 stalls tucked away down a beautifully wallpapered hallway.

Swisshorn Gold Palace

Our golden toilet award goes to the Golden Bathroom at the Swisshorn Gold Palace in Hong Kong , where you can do your business on a 24-karat solid gold toilet. Unbelievably inspired by the Communist icon Vladimir Lenin's vision of gold toilets for the masses, the jewellery mogul Lam Sai-Wing decided to build a commode out of the pure precious metal.

His obsession with metallic increased through the creation of an entire suite made from six tonnes of gold. Although the dramatic increase in the value of the precious metal has led to much of the structure being melted down and sold, thankfully the golden throne has been spared.

The Muse Hotel

At the Muse hotel, in New York, guests are invited to pick a toilet based on their personal preference. Each of six public toilets has a different design theme, illustrating immorality: Glam, Vanity, Rebel, Macho, Lust and Envy. From the glaring white entrance, intended to represent purgatory…guests must choose their path.

Enter Glam and you'll find a bathroom gilded in gold tiles with glass overlay. Step into Rebel to experience shattered mirrors and a dramatic black gothic inspired chandelier. Or select Vanity for a bathroom illuminated by crystal light fixtures and covered mirrors of all shapes and sizes.

Carrousel de Louvre

Boutique bathrooms don't come as chic as those at the Carrousel de Louvre shopping centre in Paris. The entrance to the toilets, which are known as Point WC, looks like a swank shop front, and inside you can use a hi-tech Japanese "spa" toilet, which performs more than 20 cleansing functions. Afterwards you can buy toilet accessories such as multi-coloured loo paper, extravagant seat covers and other posh bathroom products.

Dolce & Gabbana Gold

There’s no doubt that the Italian designers at Dolce and Gabbana have the golden touch when it comes to toilets. Everything at their stunning Gold restaurant in Via Poerio, Milan is coloured gold, even the loo’s. The lavish, Midas-reminiscent restrooms have played host to the iconic of stars such as Giselle, Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton. Plasma screen TVs in each stall play the James Bond flick Goldfinger on a loop, just to complete the precious experience.

Jungle Jim’s International Market

This seemingly unexciting market within the small city of Fairfield, Ohio is home to the world’s poshest port-a-potties. The entrance doors come from port-a-potties themselves, but when passing through the hallway, one will be struck with 10-stall restrooms complete with flowers, marble-lining, soft green tiles and modern artwork. Jungle Jim's continues to top America's best restrooms lists.

Jack’s Camp

Being in the middle of the desert can be harsh, but this doesn’t mean that your bathroom experience should. At Jack’s Tented Safari Camp, in the Botswanian Kalahari, anyone In desperate need of bathroom treatment receives a full royal en suite experience. Located on the edge of the Makgadikgadi salt pan, the bathrooms feature copper wash basins, Persian rugs, and indoor showers with beautifully carved, fully flushing wooden throne toilets.

Sketch

The Sketch restaurant and bar in London takes the cake just for their sheer novelty and the cleverness of capsule cubicles. Sitting below a pair of futuristic staircases, each of the 11 egg-shaped, unisex pods contains a complete, all-white, minimalistic bathroom complete with gleaming white toilets. Outside of the cubicles you are faced with fancy washbasins and elegant light-fittings complete the avant-garde luxury feel.

I must say the MENS loo at Randlords is also super impressive. Not as luxurious, but the view is superb.
