Muse Room presented by ROOM

An exhibition of work by Waynne Barker and Don Searll. This exhibit is just wonderful, The curators of the ROOM let us in after closing time to allow us to enjoy it. Gladly explaining how it worked and what the pieces represented.

3D art to me can be tacky, gimmicky and unrefined. Sure there was an element of that here, but still it was so great to see. The theme of “Muse” to me was explored in one way, that being the figure of a woman, a highly sexualized version too, which is perhaps a little narrow a vision for that topic. It was just so well done! The pieces whether 3D, photographic or sculptural were a delight to look at. Including one of only 40 Holographic portraits ever created (sold for a dizzying R500 000) Only the 3D tv screen image of fire, water and a naked woman who’s breasts moved in a disconcerting manner were something I didn’t enjoy too much, but that really is clutching at straws.

Go to the ROOM on Juta street and maybe be a little drunk when you go. It’s a good feeling having your brain twisted out of position.
