Smoky Eyes and Holographic Nails

MAKEUP HOW-TO:

After using black powder liner and rimming Dennings’s eyes, makeup artist Pati Dubroff then traced it across the lids and then smudged it with her fingers. “You want to create a base for the shadow,” she says. She then applied a black shimmering shadow over the lids and underneath the lower lash lines, after that she dotted the lids with black-silver glitter. “If particles fall on your face, use a piece of scotch tape to blot them off,” says Dubroff, who kept lips soft with a pale pink hue.

NAIL NOTE:

Chanel’s nail artist Tom Bachik lacquered Dennings’s almond-shaped nails with two coats of black polish and a clear, confetti-like top coat.

MAKEUP HOW-TO:

To create this look, Dubroff first traced navy pencil along Dennings’s upper lash lines, spreading it into an upward swish ¼ inch past the eyes. She then layered a matte royal blue powder on top, concentrating the colour at the crease and blending outward to fatten the wing. Dubroff buffed a bright blue metallic cream over the centre of the eye lids “to attract light,” then she slicked a rosy lipstick onto the lips.

BROW NOTE:

For a sleek finish, Dubroff sprayed hairspray on a disposable spoolie wand and brushed it through the eyebrows. “It’s an easy way to keep them in place,” she says.

Here Dubroff first swept a rich berry cream shadow over the entire eyelid using a flat shadow brush. “If you want a softer, more sheer look, you can use your fingers instead of a brush,” she states. She then layered on a glimmering gold cream from the inner corners to about midway across both the eyelid and the lower lash lines. The beauty fashionista then applied a powder highlighter with a touch of shimmer over Dennings's face to warm it up, and finished with a berry lipstick.
