Fiorella Yacht By Hyun-Seok Kim
The Fiorella isn’t so much a yacht as it is a maneuverable floating watering hole - complete with an underwater panoramic view, convertible sofa-bed and water level deck. When it comes to lounging around at your favourite dive bar, there aren’t many options available apart from an old boat; you’re hardly going to moor your luxury ocean liner in a pond now are you? This new toy, designed by
Hyun-Seok Kim provides an elegant alternative, inspired by the Lotus flower.
At first glance, the Fiorella looks like a glorified inflatable lilo, with its canopied seating area and reclining glass panels. However, Kim has designed the Fiorella to be customizable to accommodate its owner’s needs. It can be either a floating sofa bed with room for four, a sunken bed for two with panoramic views below the water line or a dining table with space for eight.
Beneath the water line are eight directional nozzles powered by a jet engine. These can be used to either propel the Fiorella out onto the water, or as stabilization devices working in tandem with the 16 petals that help keep the device balanced.
At present, Kim’s floating pad is just a concept, and the lakes of the Northern Hemisphere are either frozen or not worth spending any time in. But, hopefully, by the time things warm up, you could be seeing these at a watering hole near you.
