For the launch of the new HTC One series of smartphones, HTC challenged an amateur photographer to shoot a model with this new innovative technology, whilst sky-diving from a plane at 126mph. The photographer that was chosen was a second year digital photography student, Nick Jojola, who took to the skies alongside model and champion sky-diver Roberta Mancino. Mancino modelled a futuristic, mirrored bodysuit featuring 75 individual pieces of plexi-glass…created by the one and only Martin Izquierdo, a Hollywood costumer. Mancino was styled by LA Times fashion editor Hayley Atkin, who completed Roberta’s look with a pair of heel-less Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Filmed on location amidst the birds and cloudless skies of Arizona, the production included mid-air makeup artists, lighting experts, a smoke machine carrying crew and a whole lot of adrenaline that was all captured by cinematographer Norman Kent to be used in a forthcoming HTC advert in order to demonstrate the camera phone’s capabilities under extreme…and I mean extreme conditions.
