If you’re looking for a place to have a fun evening, look no further than the fabulous Metro Restaurant Café & Bar in Bryanston. Owner Kosta Kosmas is a gracious host and the ambiance is warm and welcoming, with gorgeous leather couches and soft glowy lighting which makes intimacy easy.

From Goat to Gizzards, there’s something for everyone at Metro- the starters are sublime and I would recommend you order a variety as they all deserve a taste: griiled Halloumi with sweet chili jam, Peri-peri chicken livers in such a creamy lemony sauce, sticky chicken wings, fried squid heads as well as expertly grilled chorizo.

For mains, there’s an African twist with dishes of Chicken gizzards and Ubhatata & chakalaka, Seared lamb kidneys, traditional relishes and loads of samp and imbuya. The above-mentioned goat is glazed with honey and orange and pronounced delicious by the delighted diners next to me. For the not so adventurous, there are succulent burgers and pizzas as well as steaks, fish and poultry dishes- try the very tasty deboned peri-peri chicken, Metro’s specialty. And prices are really reasonable.

To end on a sweet note, there’s a mouth-watering meze of desserts-

I particularly loved the Lindt Bomb-bons. Metro will please most palates and remember to go relatively hungry- the portions are generous in a Greek kind of way- less is definitely not more!
