Adelaide Damoah is a painter by heart. She paints because she has always had an inherent need to express herself creatively. "It is an expression of myself which communicates different things to different people and that means something to me". She feels that every time she puts a brush to canvas, she is painting a reflection of something important.

Art to her is a reflection of the spirit of the times, the very definition of the term Zeitgeist. Every time she creates a piece it is a reflection of something from that time, from that moment. Something personal or something which reflects society. Either way, it is a way of documenting. She strives to avoid censorship so that she may progress in her ability to express and relate through her work each time she creates a new piece.

On the 1st of October, Adelaide had a showing of ten works on behalf of the charity the National Centre for Domestic Violence. Held in London's Soho, the evening showing marked the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month to highlight the work of the charity.

Supermodels was a collection of eighteen striking paintings featuring powerful images which distort some well known international supermodels and celebrity icons. These works completed between 2006 and 2008 by Adelaide Damoah represent an intense period of her career when she was personally affected by the death of Brazilian model Anna Carolina Reston in 2006. The works were exhibited in 2008 at Nolias gallery in Southwark, London.

She works with primary colours and blends the colours that she wants as she goes along by instinct. She uses a lot of prussian blue to create shadows and backgrounds that recede. She creates the overall image first by sketching on to pre stretched gallery canvas and then forming a basic under painting before beginning to build up the oils.

The last four themes that she has exhibited have been consciously chosen for specific social themes which were of interest to her. Adelaide likes to work in series as she feels that it allows for expression and story telling about the chosen subject matter more completely.
