The design power house which we instantly associate with the iconic zig zag, bold colour combinations and exquisite weaves was founded by Rosita Missoni in 1953 as a knitwear workshop, and the label was first presented in Milan in 1958.

The Missoni Home design philosophy as quoted by Rosita: “The home is alive, it’s constantly evolving and never finished. It must evoke emotions and curiosity, it has to become an oasis of colours and moods, a snug shell of appealing, unusual elements in out-of-the-mould arrangements…”

The above images show the Passiflora Giant storyboard of the 2015 Season Moods. It’s quite incredible to see how the design process has translated the swatches into interior pieces and spaces. I love the partnerships of colours, textures and shapes- so vibrant and alive!

The world’s first and only Missoni branded home project is the Acqua Livingstone Tower developed by Century Properties Group in Manila, Philippines. The core focus of this architectural masterpiece of 5 towers, is to recover the river banks and revive the city of Mandalujong. As the name suggests, the inspiration is nature and particularly water- its fluidity, beauty and the movement it creates can be seen in the cascading effect of the building’s façade.

A series of levels interconnect and create a wholistic lifestyle landscape. The upper levels offer recreational facilities such as a pool, DJ booth, dance floor and BBQ stations, while the lower levels focus of wellbeing with a gym, spa, library and business rooms.

Here is the interior design inspiration for the Acqua Livingstone apartments, offering a variation on the overall sophisticated, bold and progressive aesthetic that is Missoni. A description of the brand on the development’s website perfectly articulates what Missoni means for me (a print junkie and absolute worshipper):

“The Missoni brand is known for bold color palettes seemingly caught in a frozen firework of textures and patterns.

Geometrics, florals, stripes, abstracts, each Missoni print is designed to make a visually striking statement, in expressions of wearable and livable art.”
