A new blog that has just been released by TIME magazine, it is inclusive of 30 Must see Tumblr Blogs. They include highly creative, user generated Newspaper Blackout, and is the brainchild of Austin based artist and writer “Austin Kleon”. The main objective of the Tumblr blog is to display poetry through the omission of words already in printed text. In other words, it is poetry by a way of censorship that is executed with the aid of a black sharpie. Through taking published works in the form of a newspaper articles, novels, and even horoscopes, this amazing style of “blackout poetry” reveals carefully selected words that have been used to create a new, shorter composition of expression. Often poems that have been produced offer a sense of hope and inspiration. At times they can be thought provoking, but all in all I think that Kleon deserves a thumbs up !
