Thaba Lions Educational Centre

We are truly blessed to have natural beauty surrounding us in South Africa and with organizations such as Lombardi Lions and Thaba Ya Batswana Eco Hotel & Spa which have taken it upon them to work collectively in conserving our wildlife and environment alike for the enjoyment of future generations, we have a sustainable future.

Thaba Ya Batswana Eco Hotel & Spa, situated in the tranquility of the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve has collaborated with Lombardi Lions (whom previously performed educational tours to schools in Gauteng and surrounding areas) by opening an education centre this past December at Thaba Ya Batswana, named Thaba Lions Educational Centre.

The centre’s objective is aimed at educating the public on the two species of cub hosted, namely the more common Brown lion and the rare genetic White lion as well as conservation.   It’s a harsh fact that only one quarter of lion cubs survive in the wild, however,  through the centre’s intervention cubs are taken out of higher risk situations, which make them less susceptible to natural diseases. Through this project the rate of survival has increased up to three quarters.

With both companies operating for over a decade, their passion and dedication is as inspiring as the breathtaking natural surroundings of the Nature Reserve at Thaba Ya Batswana, making for an exceptional trip of fun and relaxation for the family.
