TOPSHOP Personal Styling, the premium, complimentary shopping service that gives access to the latest arrivals, the hottest trends and styling inspiration in the comfort of a private dressing suite, has played an integral role in the success story of the British TOPSHOP brand. Nadine Zulu, the new Personal Stylist at the TOPSHOP Sandton City store, is responsible for ensuring that the local service and experience is just as outstanding as that abroad.

With a background in retail, Nadine joined the TOPSHOP team in May 2015 and is well-equipped for the demanding title. With a BA degree in Dramatic arts from Wits University, Nadine began her fashion career by starting her own entertainment brand, Khemistree Hunnies, working with a group of women, all professionally trained in either dance, drama, music or entertainment and was responsible for styling all photo and video shoots they were involved in as well as any events they attended. During this time, Nadine built up her skill set by learning to adhere to strict client briefs and was able to source clothing for her clients accordingly. By getting into retail, she was able to further her love for fashion and has learnt to work well with different kinds of people all with different tastes, body types and budgets.

Nadine is thrilled to be part of the TOPSHOP team, especially as a Personal Stylist. She believes that in the age of technology and long working hours, people want to look good, but generally don't have the time to seriously think about their wardrobes. The personal styling service allows her to think and do the hard work for her clients turning what can be a daunting and frustrating task into a fun and convenient experience.

It challenges the customer to be daring and to see fashion not only as practical, but as an art form and lifestyle. With the personal shopping experience, I am given the opportunity to show my clients the latest trends that they can wear daily and look amazing in, as well as show them that the items are practical for their daily lifestyle as well as the rest of their wardrobe. TOPSHOP screams ‘be different, do not conform’ and it allows you to express who you are visually.” Nadine Zulu.

The recently refurbished, beautifully designed Personal Styling room is located in a separate section in the Sandton City store’s Fitting Room area. Personal Styling customers are assigned an appointment with Nadine and are treated to delicious refreshments while she helps them find exactly what they are looking for. Specific appointments are available to any TOPSHOP customer, ranging from a complete wardrobe overhaul, packing for a holiday getaway, a quick lunchtime fashion fix or helping to find the perfect pair of jeans or outfit for a special occasion.

Nadine cites the wide assortment of product and large number of trends on offer at TOPSHOP at any one time as another reason for the need for the in-store service: “Fashion is not only a form of selfexpression, but a lifestyle. Your body is a canvas and how you dress it is the visual art piece you are creating and sharing with those surrounding you. When you look good, you feel great.”
