Petticoat Parlour - Spotlight

On seeing this 50's inspired Beauty Salon in Green Point, Cape Town, we had to take a closer look. Petticoat Parlour is a funky, retro, social salon which offers a wide range of treatments for teens and adults including men. The brainchild of Wendy Sarria, model, mother and now pamper queen to Cape Town's trendy. Last night was the official launch party with an amazing guest list of Cape Town's VIP'S.

We asked Wendy a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am recently a mother of a gorgeous 3 month old little girl-Erin, I model for Y model management and have been modelling since 17 years of age, so been in the industry for 10 years, I took an interest to the beauty game at 22 years of age and always had a dream of owning my own unique salon. After lots of training, studies, saving and hard work, I have reached my goal. I am passionate about the beauty industry and strive for perfection when it comes to offering clients our service, as I think there is a lack of it in this industry.

What inspired you to create a beauty parlour?

I originally wanted to be different when it came to products we use, but after 2 years of approaching different brands, I found it very difficult as most were owned by another brand and they had sole rights, I then thought I should take another angle and maybe look at a different concept of salon, a 50’s theme came to mind as I loved that era, so I started sourcing pictures of diners in the USA, retro décor, milkshake parlours etc- I thought it would be fun and new for a salon.

Tell us a little about the décor and ambiance that you have created?

We have created a real fun, funky retro salon, lots of colour and very social and interactive yet we also have serene, tranquil treatment rooms for facials, massage etc.

The treatments seem great, which is your favourite?

They are all great, I have chosen three different brands being Dermalogica, Nimue and Guinot as they all offer something so different from each other and so fabulous- If I had to choose I would definitely say the Guinot hydradermie facial is one of my favourites-you literally walk out the room glowing.
