Some of you may remember a while back that I won a range of Consol products, see my previous post: Consol Glass – “It’s good. It’s in glass.”  Consol recently launched a new and exciting product, The Solar Jar, so you can imagine my delight when I was offered a Solar Jar to add to my collection.

As an energy conscious South African I am always looking for new and efficient ways to conserve electricity and look after the environment. Well this new product does all these things and it looks good too!

"Consol makes SA "greener" one ray at a time with its New Solar Jar"

A bit of insight from Consol Glass about this product:

“Many South Africans are without adequate electricity supply, and those who do have electricity are subject to the inconsistent power supply due to load shedding and power outages.  This prompted leading glass manufacturer Consol Glass to provide an alternative lighting solution one that is safe, sustainable and easy to use.

The Solar Jar is made up of a solar-powered light housed safely in the classic Consol jar. Fitted with solar-powered LED lights, the lid has solar panelling that, when placed in the sunlight, powers the LED batteries for almost six hours before it needs to be recharged. It also has a switch on the lid for the user's control, proving that the Jar is energy-efficient and safe to use.

The Consol Solar Jar is perfect for when the lights go out, for patio dining, or romantic dinners, camping, in fact any outdoor activity that needs soft, safe lighting.  From this it is clear that the uses for this innovative new creation are endless, making the Consol Solar Jar a timeless piece.”

"Choose light. Choose glass. Choose Consol."

This is great! I haven't used Tupperware in years, converted to glass. Glass for me is certainly the way to go. Imagine the molecular changes when freezing food in plastic. Thanks for sharing Super Mom
