I find myself deeply captivated by a good-looking room, it‘s a place of refuge and solace for me from the drowning noise of our marvelous city, Johannesburg and the hustle of my every day life.  I find joyous comfort in being surrounded by attractive and aesthetically rewarding objects and thus have spent hours and hours of my free time in design stores across SA.

A store I’ve visited many times before has recently moved-shop in the trendy Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre, and has had a make-over, bringing new meaning to the proverb “paving the way for future generations.” In celebration of its 20^th anniversary the bespoke design store, Generation (previously named Generation Furniture) has recreated a space which is inviting, eclectic and visually indulgent, lending itself more toward a strong retail stance rather than merely a showroom as may have been before.

 With an extended product range from world renowned designers, including amongst others, De Padova, Casalis, Napp and Christian Tortu, the shop has a marvelous array of avante garde retail products, making this a new sensory journey for all design lovers.  Founder and designer, Julia Day, is known to be consistently innovative and adds a unique interior design service which has long been a favourite among discerning corporate, retail and residential clients.

The shop represents contemporary culture on an international level and is a must to visit when in the area. The new Generation store is located at shop 14 Middle Mall Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre.
