I found out that the theme this year was sustainability which was very exiting for someone with my background in this new area of fashion. The opening show was by a designer from Minas Gerais, Mary Designs, she designed the clothing and the accessories, and the hats stood out in a bit way to me. They are made of newspaper, with a refined paper maiche technique and I was blown away at the precise construction and detailed craft of these amazing pieces. The shapes and sizes were varied, her creativity was on fire, evident in the scope of the designs, from Asian to French to Egyptian, they were all covered. Prada continues to show off their multimedia savvy with the latest video dropped today for their F/W 2012 campaign.  Anne V, Elza Luijendijk, Iselin Steiro, Madison Headrick, Magdalena Frackowiak and Axente have been cast in this one–a geometric interior set sets the stage for a game of chess, while the Navajo geometric prints, rich colors and embellished suits are the true  stars.  With as much sensory stimulation as Prada has been giving us lately, we are definitely looking forward to this dynamic and colorful collection being absorbed by the mainstream.See More

You would have to say that housing, food, and clothes would be the bare essentials. In order to be ‘civilised’, one could say that electricity, roads, health care, and computers are essential too. French architecture agency Palatre & Leclére have done an amazing job with their latest project, the Ecole Maternelle Pajol in Paris, combining all the elements necessary for the education of tomorrows brightest stars, the children!  With bright colors, art installations, and just pure happiness, who wouldn’t want to send their children to learn in this engaging, interactive environment? This 1940s building, located on Rue Pajol in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, has been restored and re imagined, and while the basic structure has remained the same, Palatre & Leclére have introduced color by the bucket load, in addition to overhauling the furniture and furnishings in the four-classroom kindergarten.…See More

Designer Riccardo Tisci wanted to portray the euphoric energy of a rave in Givenchy’s Fall 2012 campaign. This led photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, to capture the models in a blurred motion as to emanate the essence of ravers. Tastefully filling a polished office space with lots of swirling and leafy plants is no easy task, but the uber-modern Ljubljana Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Slovenia manages to beautifully bring the outdoors in with a stunning interior garden that whips through the space.
