Jo'burg based fashion and trends guru Jacelyn, spent some time with neofundi, sharing her passion for fashion and her love for beauty. 

What part of fashion designing do you love?
Over and above fashion itself I love the overseas trend trips. I'm lucky enough to travel every three to six weeks. There is nothing like London's high street, New York City’s energy or the raw attitude of Barcelona for inspiration. For me fashion is a dynamic industry that continues to evolve and will always challenge you regardless.

What experience do you have in the Fashion industry?
I started as a ladieswear fashion buyer for Edgars and eventually moved into my current position as a designer.

Tell us about your passion for make-up?
Make-up has been an obsession I have had all my life. I started playing with make-up at a very young age and as I got older realised how addictive it was to redefine, reshape and enhance beauty. The ability to create perfection and beauty is incredibly powerful.

How long have you been doing make-up professionally?
I worked for L'Oreal as a make-up artist for 2 years and have been freelancing for 5 years- so all in all 7 years!

Which celebrity’s make up would you love to do?
Kate moss!

What are the 3 top make up brands you enjoy using?

 This is a tough one, I have so many... If I have to narrow it down I would have to say Christian Dior has to be one of my favourites. Their products are beautiful and really last the whole day. Mac is great and has the best brushes and L'Oreal always have great seasonal make-up ranges.

Red lipstick or natural lips?

 I would have to say both! Red lips are so glamorous and relevant in fashion and beauty at the moment. There is such a strong reference back to 1920's glamour. Natural lips are great if you are going for a strong emphasis on the eyes or to use for a very fresh natural look.

Best place in JHB for:
Clothes: Forever New have nice items (Top Shop and Zara are coming soon. I know I'll be in those stores). There are also one or two great little vintage shops in Melville.
Shoes: Aldo have great shoes
Make up: Red Square always has a nice variety
Coffee: Frattelis in Greenside (there is a brilliant band every Sunday afternoon and always a great crowd)

Favourite place in the world that you have been to?
I have been to many beautiful places in the world but I have to say my heart lies in South Africa. Cape Town is still my favourite place on earth.
