YSL Pays Homage to Mr. Saint Laurent’s Most Iconic Design with This Gorgeous Makeup Palette

Yves Saint Laurent drew inspiration from modern artist Piet Mondrian’s trademark primary color-blocked works, and in 1965 paid tribute to the painter with his Mondrian dress design. The dress was quickly dubbed “the dress of tomorrow” for its ability to flatter with crisp, graphic lines and stay on trend with the decade’s mod aesthetic.

Now, makeup art is imitating life with YSL Beauty’s latest launch. Just in time for the June 27 release of Yves Saint Laurent, a film biopic outlining the designer’s life, the brand has launched the Couture Palette as a nod to Laurent’s iconic ’60s-era design. While the bolder color combinations are more of a literal take on the Mondrian dress, the subdued palettes are just as flattering (plus, they offer endless options for Twiggy-esque eye makeup looks).
