Bottega Veneta created a harmonious interplay of colours, textures and fabrics on their spring 2012 runway and to add to the contrasts, he used a low-key hair and makeup feel. The positive chiffon dresses and leather-suede combo skirts balanced out the untidy, versatile wet chignon. For those days when you don’t feel like putting much time into your hair, this loosely styled chignon is perfect for you! The idea of this hairstyle is to create a wet look. Follow the step by step guide below on how to.

The how to:

.Redken’s Creative Consultant, Guido says his motivation was to create a look that anyone could create at home. He shares his secrets of this simple and yet effective look.

.Apply a volumising mousse (the hair team backstage at Bottega Veneta used Redken’s Full Frame 07 – volumizing mousse) through towel-dried hair and let it dry naturally. But if you are in a rush, simply flip your hair forward and use the hair dryer on a high speed from underneath. This will give your hair the volume it will need.

.Now focus on the wet look, Guido suggests applying Argan oil throughout the hair using your fingers, this will add that silky smooth shine. Remember, only do this once your hair has dried completely.

.Use your fingers and pull your hair back into a low ponytail. Tie it loosely with hair band at ear level. Note there is a parting in the hair.

.Now wrap the ponytail into an untidy low bun / chignon and secure it with bobby pins. You can pull a few strands out of the ponytail if you want to add to the effortless look of the style.

.If you want more shine, you can apply some more Argan oil to the crown of the hair.

The wet look chignon: how to wear it

The best part about wearing the wet chignon is that it compliments both casual and formal attire. Its personality speaks whether you are at the beach or at a formal occasion. For next year’s summer months, you can team the hairdo with a floaty dresses, or even hot pants. As far as makeup is concerned, one can go for a bare lid mascara and flushed pink lips.
