Designed by a powerhouse trio, Spanish furniture designer Patricia Urquiola, Italian architect Rodolfo Dordoni, and Belgian fashion designer Kris Van Assche, the three watches are all one-offs and are the designer's own interpretation of the Swiss watchmaker's Red Dot award-winning Pontos Décentrique GMT.

 'Whether designing shoes, belts, jewellery or a watch, it should never be too fancy on a guy,' says Van Assche, which explains his subtle yet eye-catching features such as the strap which combines stainless steel barcelet with light brown calfskin and black gold external section on the dial and metal-coated sapphire crystal over the date indication.

 'My goal was to gather three subjects - Maurice Lacroix, Wallpaper* and myself - in a single 'Stainless' watch,' says Dordoni, whose interpretation of the Pontos Decentrique GMT includes an engraved date mechanism and plished indexes to show the time, with a brown crocodile skin strap.

'The concept of the design is to keep it very clean, giving it a playful side,' say Urquiola. Her watch is thus given a simple black calfskin strap and a clear black-printed dial, but the displays all sit just a little off-center.

We've had to fend off querelous buyers with cheque books since we first launched these watches with Maurice Lacroix earlier in the year.
