TUMI Celebrates 40 Years of Innovation

Founded in 1975, TUMI is proud to celebrate 40 years of design excellence and outstanding product innovation with a collection aptly titled “1975”.

Designed in America for Global Citizens everywhere, this limited edition collection is crafted from natural, full grain cowhide leather similar to the variety TUMI imported from South America in the early years and TUMI’s signature ballistic nylon.

Founder Charlie Clifford’s driving passion to make travel easier was the driving force and catalyst that motivated him to create TUMI. TUMI is the moniker for a Peruvian icon inspired by Clifford’s Peace Corps mission in South America. TUMI was launched as an importer of leather goods but Clifford had bigger ideas and his eyes focused upon revolutionizing the travel world.

TUMI proudly holds over 325 design and utility patents relating to its products and as component features, and continues to expand and evolve its collections.

The brand is sold in over 280 stores from New York to Paris to London and Tokyo, as well as the world’s top department and specialty stores and travel retail in more than 75 countries.
