I was recently introduced to this very special initiative which has given me a new perspective to the way I buy toys for my friends and family’s children.  This enterprise is called TrashCanKidz and it’s a business with a social conscience and purpose.

They produce unique, handmade dolls that portray orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world, in a playful way, whilst donating 20% of their revenue from their sales to an organisation or initiative supporting children in need.  Their motto is ‘Every Child Counts’ and it’s really very simple… They are giving a voice to the voiceless – “to the thousands and millions of orphaned, vulnerable and street children of the world. Homeless boys and girls who, for one reason or another, the world has ‘forgotten.”

TrashCanKidz invites kids to adopt an adorable TrashCanKidz doll of their own, helping in return to make a difference in one lonely childs’ life.  There are five TrashCanKidz dolls namely; Calypso, Slam, Solo, Rose, and Samson and each have their own distinctive personalities.

This initiative allows for you to have peace of mind when splurging on your child’s next toy which they may only play with for a month or two, as you’ll be supporting a remarkable cause.  TrashCanKidz is here to start a conversation about the plight of these children and to take positive steps so that ours can be the generation that starts making a difference.

TrashCanKidz has launched its Pop-Up Store in Sandton City, (between Earthchild U86 A and Naartjie U301)
