A beautiful British rebel with an appetite for fun leads TOPSHOP UNIQUE’s Spring/Summer 2016.

Continuing the heirloom prettiness of Autumn, she takes on the new season with her quintessentially Britspin – she's first past the post at any social engagement.

The pillars of great British classics permeate through daywear; city-boy pinstripes and boxer shorts collidewith charming floral dresses (to be welcomed at any fundraiser). Relaxed tailoring is juxtaposed with a romantic softness. Mannish shirting adds crispness, with statement details: exaggerated French cuffs, collars and oversize drop shoulders making them a roomy complement to a lean tailored trouser.

Estate sale flourishes, like the smooth haired leopard car coat or a twinkle of gemstones hint at bygone grandeur but worn with modern nonchalance.

A non-precious take on garden party style sees an exclusive collaboration with Wedgwood. Two of their most memorable designs - Wild Strawberry and Jasperware - sensually update our heroine’s tea-dresses. Less maiden aunt, new details include plunging deep V-necks, daring flashes of leg and fluttering georgette sleeves – accentuating a youthful prettiness. The sensuous delicacy of clothes that drape, wrap and slide.

Throw on a gentleman’s cricket jumper when temperatures cool. This devil-may-care casualness separates her from her mother's generation (although they both love the British pragmatism of an oversize drop-shouldered nylon trench). Her jeans are high waisted eighties-inspired classics, reinvigorated in a porcelain blue wash.

TOPSHOP UNIQUE is the place where old and new collide. For evening; tropes of masculinity continue with a cotton tuxedo with a duchesse trim, and enviably breezy silk pyjama suiting. Marabou chubbies play out as summer “furs”, and caress the shoulders of decadent satins (all worthy of a nineties aristo). Catch her at the country house-party if you can.

Remember: this is England.
