My latest crush for this season is the short, boxy top.  Although it seems a little tricky to wear at first, it's actually not.  Bellybutton-phobes or those who fear the revival of the 80s version of this trend, fear not!  High-waisted bottoms have ensured this trend flaunts less skin then before and fab abs are no longer a necessity.  The tops are also more boxy and baggy than before.  So now you can mix this cheeky little item with the rest of your wardrobe with minimal effort.

Here are some styling suggestions...

The easy way: your boxy tee with a pencil skirt. The slim silhouette of the skirt will balance the boxiness of the top and flatter most figures.  It’s an easy combo to wear day and night.

Wear your crop, boxy top with this season’s floaty skirt.  The soft skirt and it’s length will complement the short top and epitomises the play on proportions which is so important for summer.  I love the option of layering it over a maxi dress too... too quirky and gorgeous!

I’m loving this sheer or lacy version.  It is so sexy and shows off a bit of skin without being a tactless low-plunging top or something of the sort.  It's so feminine and perfect for this Jozi heat right now too!

And if you’ve got the bod, rock the crop top with shorts!  Or you can make it look super casual with some skinnies or peg-leg trousers.  If you’re feeling you have yet to make the mad-dash to the gym for this summer, layer the crop over camies or tight-fitting tops and you’ll still achieve this adorable look for summer!

Whatever your version, this item will freshen-up any look.  I think it's such a great alternative to the boyfriend tee and I love both knit and woven translations.
