The World’s Finest Rum – Ron Zacapa

Labeled, “One of the World’s 100 Most Valuable Luxury Brands, Ron Zacapa brought himself to South Africa for the first time in October last year.  Why? Because he’s trying to change the perception of South African consumers thinking that Rum can only be drank with coca-cola and that’s it. (And rightfully So!)

 

The world’s finest rum continued its African journey this past month with a magical pairing dinner hosted at the chic and contemporary Cellar Door at the Four Seasons Hotel, The Westcliff.

 

An innovative 4-course pairing menu enraptured all five senses which brought the fascinating story and quality of Ron Zacapa to life in innovative and novel ways, through soundscapes, scentscapes, visual and textural elements and evocative cuisine, all the while honouring Ron Zacapa by including the country in the global campaign which, to date, has seen some of the world’s top destinations experiencing similar sensory pairing experiences.

 

Looking for inspiration for your next dinner party? Take inspiration from the Executive Chef’s menu…Included were luminous culinary dishes, including a honey and rum glazed seared salmon fillet (CRAZY Good) with spice crust & citrus salad; Roasted duck breast with nougat crust, Tonka bean-flavoured cauliflower mousseline and Zacapa sauce; and a deconstructed Tiramisu with rum and sautéed pear, and homemade Malaga ice cream.  Believe me, we wished we had Mr. Zacapa sitting right next to us all night…with glee, written all over our faces! 

 

(You would have wished your mother-in-law were joining you for dinner too, to explain that this is how YOU would NEVER be able to cook and that she’d need to make peace with it…)
