I was invited to enter the VIP Glamour Celebrity Stiletto Run hosted at the Mall of Rosebank on Saturday. I received my invitation for the run a while back and I kept going over the Stiletto part. There were clear instructions that the stiletto had to be no less than 7cm high and at most 1.5cm wide(no wedges allowed).

This disturbed me and let me tell you why...

Not only do I never wear heels, I also have flat feet(no arch) so that makes it difficult for my foot to be supported and lastly if I don't walk in stiletto's, how on earth am I going to run in them?...I tried to back out a couple of times, but Jill insisted that I enter and she said there was a prize for the snail(the one who comes last).  This is an event hosted all over the world, so I decided to run as it is for a good cause and I would take the race in my stride.

Saturday arrived and I got my miserable stiletto shoes out and got ready. When I arrived at Rosebank outside Ninos and Vanilla there was a Glamour registration booth. The Zebra square girls registered me and measured my heel...which was exactly 7cm! They gave me my glamour bib and I went to join the other celebs. The vibe was awesome, YFM was jamming and the sponsors were handing out their goody bags. Europa Art Shoes was one of the fabulous prize sponsors.

The heats started and the girls were racing, falling, tripping and I don't know, all I can say  is FEAR swept over me. What made it all the more difficult was the terrain: a cobblestone and rough concrete and stone mix. It was a 100 meter sprint!!

People were cheering and screaming for the girls..and let me tell you there was a large crowd supporting us.

My race was about to begin and I lined up next to Sonia Booth, a tall, strong, gorgeous woman, I told myself that the most important thing that I must focus on is NOT TO FALL...with all these people...I would be humiliated. My shoes felt like clamps and my blood was struggling to circulate.

Buji shouted over the mic, "1,2,3" and I started to trot with the clamps on my hooves. I thought, okay, my shoes feel tight and I don't think that they will come off, so I ran faster, then I thought okay this isn't so bad, and then it kicked in...I CAN SPRINT IN THESE SHOES!! I ran with fervour and speed that I suprised Sonia Booth who was shocked that I caught up to her and nearly beat her...just nearly...but not. Sonia Booth won in her glamorous style and I came second...not bad for non stiletto wearing girl:)

All in all I have to say that it was a brilliant fun-filled day. Thank you Glamour!

Watch my race:)
