I have known IWTFY for some time, I would consider myself a friend. Its perhaps this that has always held me back from having a solid opinion on his work. Last night changes this, I wish to have an opinion and a strong one. I thought it was a magnificent and heartrending personal display done through an artform that is not my style, poetry.

I am embarrassed that I have never taken the time to go into the work more solidly and with the appreciation it deserves. I shan't make the same mistake again.

The evening was a simple beautiful affair, wine, people and poetry. Read by IWTFY on a faulty microphone and streamed to his thousands of fans around the world. His appreciation for the fans that he has finally seen in the flesh, as opposed the usual comments on his blog and the twitter feed. These were/are real people who love his work and who have through his words been spoken to on a very real personal level.

We were treated to a ukelele show afterwards as a little kicker, not bad for a guy with a hat and a beard, not bad for a literary bad boy.
