There’s nothing more important to Emma Pike, business owner of Posh Nail & Beauty, than salon service with a distinct personal touch. Her bespoke boutique salon in the Post Office centre (opposite the delightful Patisserie) in the discerning suburb of Illovo in Johannesburg is just that; chic décor that’s inviting, the very best of treatments (like on-trend microblading that Emma has vetted herself) and those extra special attention-to-detail touches that client’s simply don’t get anywhere else.

“A boutique space is far more conducive to a relaxing experience,” says

Emma. “A big facility is like a conveyor belt, lacking that personal touch. I think it’s so important to remember that skin and beauty therapy is one of the few remaining “hands-on” industries in these modern times.” Emma has made other measures to ensure Posh Nail & Beauty is of our modern times but isn’t part of society’s current state of disconnect. “A smaller team means a more specialised team: one that can listen carefully to the needs of clients and develop important personal relationships,” explains Emma.

A luxury yet unpretentious and inviting salon is another way Emma has made Posh Nail & Beauty a haven for clients. UK-born Emma worked for both Gucci and Cartier while living abroad and understands just how important a carefully thought-through aesthetic is to clients – especially when investing time and money on themselves. Tasteful elements like classic Ralph Lauren wallpaper with modern accents of chrome and elegant orchids create an interior that’s reminiscent of London’s infamously well-heeled Knightsbridge. And as for those attention-to-detail touches, the salon has it’s own signature scent, especially created to lace the air with a fragrance that’s utterly sublime. Scent Air is a delicate blend premium quality fragrance notes, and Posh’s parfum is, the delicious Green Tea and Fig.

Apart from the importance Emma places on stellar client service and holistic treatment, she is as equally concerned with forward-thinking skin and beauty therapy. “Posh caters to clients who travel frequently and who see global trends in the beauty, skincare and anti-aging industry,” she says. “I want them to be able to have here what they see there.”

Microblading: So many women have over-tweezed their brows and now spend precious time correcting the results. Put down the brows pencils and shadow kits because Posh Nail & Beauty’s solution to bad brows is truly incredible. “Microblading is an instant fix for filling out and perfecting your eyebrows (but one that still looks natural) this brow remedy creates precision,” says Emma. Taking the beauty world by storm, the treatment (it’s also called micro stroking) is a brow embroidery technique that uses superfine needles (that’s why the look is so perfect) to create thin, hair-like marks on the skin. “Micro-blading is a semi-permanent treatment,” says Emma, and so the results last from 18 months to three years depending on your lifestyle, she explains.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Machine: “Posh is so much more than “just another beauty salon” offering manis and pedis, and it’s important to us to be able to give our clients medi-aesthetic treatment solutions courtesy of our IPL machine,” says Emma. “These treatments will still performed by a client’s regular therapist who know their skin’s needs better than anyone, but it’s just a “next-level” solution for excellent skin rejuvenation results.”

Posh also offers: IPL permanent hair removal, permanent make up, spray tanning, nail treatments (including Shellac), eye lash extensions, body massages, reflexology, facials and Micro-Zoning.

Retail product ranges include: QMS, Dermalogica, RegimA, CND Shellac, CND Vinylux, Crisnail, EOS, BeautyFix, Gel Revolution, la-tweez, Eye Slices, VI Peel, Ellipse IPL, OPI and The Tan Lab.
