2013.

Hope smiles from the threshold of the year that is upon us, whispering it will be happier, healthier and more glorious than the one before; and with this hope comes a long list of resolutions that long outlive their composers’ intentions.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to resolutions, and have compiled a rather lengthy list myself, including uploading my blog weekly and channelling my inner Victoria’s Secret status, which I intend to wholeheartedly commit to.

I’m not sure what it is that makes New Years’ Resolutions almost impossible to stick to… Is it their absurdity, or perhaps the fact that sprawled across the sand sipping on sangria we feel invincible, and overshoot the tangible target? Almost everyone I know swears solemnly to give up everything they love… which in theory cannot last, as life is meant to be loved, not simply lived.

I have a solution to the debacle of the ill-fated New Year’s Resolution… Instead of committing to never setting your sights on another sweet treat, why not commit to living the next year with P.I.A…three words - it may sound strange, but not only is this possible, it is also has positive repercussions, not to mention longevity (unlike those New Years’ Resolutions). So I have committed to: Passion (obviously), Integrity (one of my all-time important qualities in everyone I love) and Ambition. My resolution is to employ these three words in every sphere of my life this year – how can I possibly go wrong? Every decision I make and turn I take, I am going to call upon these words to ensure I am on the right track.

As you know by now, Passion is my super-power, and my personal answer to anything and everything in life. Be it your career, relationship or hobby; if you do it with Passion, you will succeed.

According to various Schools of Thought and an incredibly wise friend of mine, if you live with Integrity, things simply “go right.” Like, finding a parking, if “what you say”, “what you think” and “what you do” are all in alignment, the bays just open up; but if you say something that conflicts “what you actually think”, it’s red lights and roadworks for you.

Ambition, for me, is the most attractive quality in a person. Someone who is ambitious is instantly confident and assertive and these are magnetic forces to be reckoned with. You can almost guarantee their future will be bright; which brings me to my Mantra for 2013 - #shinebrightlikeadiamond#

So get up and go to the gym, take a course, learn a language; but do it all with Passion, Integrity and Ambition. (It is pretty ambitious to look like a long-legged Brazilian beauty á la Victoria’s Secret, but hey;))

And most importantly, LOVE life. Savour every sip of the sweet moments - life is too short not to make the best and the most of everything that comes your way everyday; so use the Bone China, and the Egyptian Cotton sheets.
