You simply have to head on over to Alice Lane and grab a table at Nikos Coalgrill Greek- a gorgeous, contemporary restaurant that offers traditional homestyle Greek cuisine, coalgrilled and absolutely fabulous! With a view of the sexy Sandton skyline, you can sip a beer at the end of the day and nibble on meze- and the selection is immense!
I just love the Htipiti (red pepper, chilli and feta dip) or some tender Calamari Saganaki (cooked in Ouzo and a rich tomato sauce).
The menu offers traditional Yiros- coal-grilled meats: beef, chicken or pork wrapped in pita with delicious varied fillings; as well as spicy lamb koftas, or for the vegetarian option, Falafel or chickpeas and roasted brinjals. The showstopper vegetable is trendy cauliflower- roasted with pine nuts and tangy lemon and capers- stabbed with a knife!
There's nothing to beat the taste of freshly grilled prawns- yum!
Don't worry about parking in busy Sandton, there's ample underground parking. On the other hand, i arrived on the back of a Vespa, which made my dessert of Poached pear with crispy Kataifi so much sweeter....
