Mercedes-Benz has a penchant for fashion, being the headline sponsor for a variety of global fashion weeks. The relationship bridges the love of fashion and cars, whether it’s the folds of fabric which hug the curves of a woman’s beautiful body or the skilfully designed metal that encases a motor car, it’s artful design at its best.

As part of Mercedes-Benz support of fashion, I was invited to an AMG performance tour event at Mercedes’s Bryanston dealer. The Bryanston showroom played host to a variety African and South African fashion week highlights – Deola Sagoe from Nigeria, Kreyann’ from Cameroon and Black Trash from Botswana. Local South African designers Stoned Cherrie and Dax Martin showcased what could only be described as crowd-pleasing highlight. The fashion show was produced by show veteran Jan Malan. His ying and yang for the eventing were host Jason Greer and singer Pixie Bennett, who did a great job of entertaining the guests. The showstopper for the evening was a model clad SLS 6.3 AMG, which roared into centre stage and had many of the guests using it as a photographic backdrop.
