One might be forgiven for expecting the title-holder of a national pageant, such as Miss South africa,
to be high-maintenance and aloof. Pretoria-born Melinda bam, who was crowned in december
2011, is as far from that as possible: she was both friendly and approachable to everyone she met.
her love of fashion was evident as she discussed her favourite local designers with the Voila! team
on set at Shine Studios in braamfontein. the dress she wore when she won, a feminine dress in soft
yellow by Cape town-based rosenworth, was lauded by fashion’s finest. her other red carpet
appearances, such as at the Mtn SaMa’s have been met with a similar reaction. 

Miss South africa left a lasting impression with everyone at the shoot, as we are sure her cover will
leave a lasting effect on everyone who sees it. With her undeniable beauty, strong sense-of-self and
gracious approach, Voila! is proud to have her as our covergirl, and our country’s representative
on the global stage. this year really is Melinda’s time to shine.
