How many times do we think about the fact that we need to understand how to responsibly sustain our marine life population in order to prevent a decline in our earth’s endangered species? Not that often, I know I don’t, but Maximo Riera a spanish designer has recently completed the final piece to his animal chair collection. This last and stunning edition “Whale Chair” pays tribute and honors the blue whale, the world’s largest animal. The context of this project related to Riera’s connection to the sea whereby the furniture series makes a comparative statement on the current state of our eco-system and how we tend to deal with the relationship between the animal kingdom and human beings. Within the medley of Riera’s series, “Whale chair” was designed to be the centerpiece making it ideal for open spaces due ti its extensive size and dimension. The fin is the composition of a span in relation to the seat.
