Super talented, Lauren Woolf, Group Marketing Director of Ogilvy South Africa. We at neofundi spent some time with her, getting a better understanding to what motivates this highly succesful career woman and mom.

Tell us about your work at Ogilvy?

Well, I think what best describes my role at Ogilvy is that of a ‘Brand Amplifier’. I work on a number of different initiatives and projects that are all, at the end of the day, designed to get people within and outside of the company to fall in – and stay in - love with Ogilvy. Kind of what we do for our clients every day. Get people to love their products or services, buy them, and keep on doing so.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A blur. I can tell you though, that gym, cappuccinos, artwork, meetings, music, laptops, children, people, iPads and iPhones all feature prominently! My office is my car and my handsfree kit is my survival tool. I also have a great little office at The Ogilvy Brand Building in Bryanston, where I have peacocks, ducks and koi fish as neighbours.

What are the highlights of working in a fast paced industry?
Staying close to the edge of what’s happening in society and culture. Staying abreast of trends and ideas. I love the energy transfer that happens between people who are always in idea-mode. Also, I am fast-paced so we’re a perfect match!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Passionate. Enthusiastic. Manic.

What kind of people do you dislike?
Bullies.

Which ancient place would you like to visit?
Israel. Oh, and Atlantis !

Favourite holiday destination and why?

Zanzibar. It’s where I had my honeymoon…

Which super power would you like to have and why?
Teleportation for sure! With friends and family all over the world and South Africa, to get there without flights and jetlag would be awesome!

Walking or Running?
Walking. Preferably Hiking.

What’s your own definition of happiness?
It’s that feeling you have when you want the moment to last forever. You know – that one.

Best in Joburg for:
Lazy Sundays: Emmerentia Dam (with kids) - 44 Stanley (without)

Tea and cake: Wolves on Corlett Drive. (Have you tried their Red Velvet Cake…?)
Lunch with the family: Home

Best actor?
Jeremy Irons

Favourite Movie?
Please can I have two?
The Castle
High Fidelity

What’s your secret tip to being a mom and a career woman?
1. If you’re looking for balance, let your kids help you find it.
2. Master walking in high heels – even on the soccer pitch.:-)

Dogs or Cats?
Goldfish

If you could have any three famous people over for dinner who would they be and what would you serve?
I’m not sure, but I would definitely serve Fondue. It always brings everyone together.

Best book you have read:
My late Grans collection of wisdom quotes.

Quote that you love: “Do what you love, Love what you do”

Something we don’t know about you:
I snowboard ‘Goofy’

I think SuperWoman is befitting, not teleportation :)

Lauren :-) Nicely said! And 'brand amplifier' is a new one to add to my collection :-) I think it's amazing that you do what you do. You were one of the best suits in a business where morons are many and the greats are few! And well done on Ogilvy's awesome Loerie wins! I think more than Ogilvy, your clients love you, like we all do.

I can't believe someone else has watched The Castle, never mind list it as a favourite. I need to start paying more attention to this Ogilvy thing ;-)
