This is KIA’s flagship vehicle. An SUV by creation; designed for versatile family action. It is also in the running for the 2016 Car of the Year title, being one of 12 finalist vying for the prestigious designation.

Now three generations deep, the KIA Sorento remains a large sized family SUV although improved with each new version. Built for the road but with off road aspirations. The Sorento’s strong point is its capacity for chauffeuring precious cargo. It comfortably does so, carrying up to seven adults easily, thanks to a plush suspension set up and supple seats.

Previously an advantage of purchasing a Sorento was its price. You see, it was big - on size, equipment and road presence all while selling at a fantastic price. In fact, there wasn’t much to match it in the value department. Now- as with most things in South Africa- prices are increasing. Prices begin at R400K and top out at R655K. That now places the Sorento in a new league of competition, stiffer competition. In fact you could get a Land Rover Discovery Sport for the same money but is it worth the money? It has cavernous levels of accommodation, its comfortable to drive in, it’s super quiet while on the move and loaded with features. It comes with things like an automated tail gate, heated and cooled leather seats, a panoramic sunroof and and and... It’s loaded with features!

On the move, the Sorento is driven by a choice of two engines in SA, the 2.2 turbo charged diesel or a 2.4 petrol. The diesel is mated to smooth shifting 6-speed auto while the entry-level petrol version comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
