We get up close and personal with multi-talented John Sanei. He is the Owner operator of ‘The Fresh Ingredient’, his talents range from motivational speaking, investments in high growth businesses to inventing the Brollidip umbrella wrapping system. John enlightens us with his philosophy on life.

Tell us about your concept 'the fresh ingredient'.

The recession has hit most businesses hard and has changed peoples shopping, eating and living habits.
The Fresh Ingredient initially started to help the hospitality industry, but now works with a range of businesses to help them rejuvenate, refresh and revive their offerings in order to get post recession ‘fit’.
We help our clients strategise, implement, operate and market their businesses with the new consumer habits in mind.
So far we have succesfully worked with restaurants, guest houses, take away stores, construction companies, IT companies, marketing companies and property landlords through startegy sessions, workshops and talks.
It is so fulfilling to help businesses reach that ‘AHA’ moment and reinvent the way they approach consumers.

Tell us about sweat 1000?

SWEAT 1000 is a workout created by training guru Steve Uria - its really the ultimate workout in the market. It's 60 min long and is a mixture of treadmill and interval training. The music is LOUD and the instructors are fired up to make sure you get the ultimate workout. The famous SWEAT 1000 high is experienced afterwards from the endorphin rush and it is addictive! SWEAT 1000 is coming to Joburg soon so get ready to get SWEATy.

What are you passionate about?

• I’m most passionate about becoming more comfortable in my own skin – as human beings we have to work on it constantly but the beauty is that the more comfortable we get the more impact we can have on our world

• Helping people change their perspective on something or just making them smile and feel good about themselves.

• Fitness – nothing beats feeling fit.

What characteristic do you love in people:

True leadership & vulnerability – which is in fact the ultimate power.

If you could be remembered for one thing what would it be:

Uplifting everyone I came into contact with.

If you could be great anything what would you choose:

Public speaking. I think I’m pretty good at it but I wanna be really great at it.

If you could write a book what would it be about?

Being happy with the present moment and having fun. It’s a lot easier said than done. With a fun perspective in life everything is better - relationships, experiences etc.

Have you ever experienced heaven?

Great question – in 3 different situations:
When I see my mom after a long time and she gives me a tight hug and loves me only like a mother can; When I kiss my girlfriend and its one of ‘those’ kisses that take your breathe away;
Running a race on a cool early morning, adrenaline is pumping, the tunes on my ipod are kick ass and im running at full steam and my breathing is calm – being fit is definitely a priority!

Can you keep secrets?

99% of the time. I have a best friend who I tell all of the details to – can’t help it.
That’s what best friends are for right?!

At what age were you the happiest and why?

Now! My understanding of the mechanics of how to live life is increasing so the better I get at playing the game the more fun I have in the present moment.

Could you give up your cellphone for a month ?

I could, but won’t enjoy it much. I like being connected.

Do you believe people can change?

2 things make us change – desperation or inspiration. You are either so desperate to not be where you are you are forced to change or you are inspired to be better. So yes 100% people can change and do change. Hopefully for the better.

What do you like most about yourself and what would you change?

I like that I can make conversation easily with people and make them feel comfortable. I wish I was less sensitive – but I’m working on that.

What advice would you have given yourself at the end of matric:

Relax its all gonna be cool!

Best in Cape Town for:

Exercise: promenade sunset run
Sundays: on a hot day - Clifton 2nd / on cold day Chapmans peak hotel for some peri peri chicken
Breakfast: Side Walk Cafe
Sunsets: the rock at the end of Clifton 4th – you gotta walk through the parking lot and houses to get to it (but keep it hush – its kinda of a secret)

Favourite quote:

"Not a shred of doubt exists that we're built for anything less than Extraordinary" -Robin Sharma

Beautiful life philosophy. If you can live by it you are made in all aspects of your life. Loved reading this:)

I love people that mean what they say, in love with your interview because I know that everything you say is a reflection of who you are.
