As we step into the New Year, home improvements, instead of crazy diets may be on top of your list of things to tackle, as is on mine.  A new year, a new you….a new, beautifully designed home.

Here are some of 2013’s top décor trends:

According to analysts, 2013’s interior design is strongly influenced by nature. Shades of white, brown natural tones, wooden surfaces, rattan and other simple, natural materials set the foundation for the new trend theme named ”Fresh”.  (Taken from December 2012 issue of Vogue Living.)

Graphic Patterns like ikat (A craft in which one tie-dyes and weaves yarn to create an intricately designed fabric) was everywhere last year and tribal patterns will continue to pervade interior design. Bold and colorful, tribal patterns are especially suited for eclectic design or traditional spaces needing a touch of the unexpected.

                                                           Ikat Designs

From lighting and accents, to furniture and upholstery, gold will return to the forefront of interior design. Layering the shade through a mixture of furnishings will be popular, and will up the glamour and opulence of any chosen room.

However serious you take your home-makeover, make sure you’re enjoying decorating your home by experimenting with textures and colours and maybe even attempting your own DIY Projects, the pay off is totally worth it.
