AFI FASTRACKS™ THE FASHION FUTURES OF FOUR UPCOMING DESIGNERS

AFI Fastrack™ brought to you by MERCEDES-BENZ in association with FOSCHINI is in its second year running, which sees four young designers on the runway to success after they embarked on a valuable six-week internship program at Foschini and at Cape Town design house, Kazak.

The pioneering national fashion designer development program by African Fashion International (AFI), aims to develop young South African fashion design talent through mentorship, skills developments and by offering real-time collection opportunities.

Capetonian Kim Gush, Wetive Lindokuhle Nkosi from Johannesburg, Kyra-Moon Halfpenny and Shelly Botha from Durban are the incredibly privileged winners for 2012 which were announced at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg earlier this year, setting the stage for the 14-week journey of training in business acumen, merchandising and the development of a commercial range.

“AFI Fastrack™ is a significant part of African Fashion International’s commitment to the development of the South African fashion industry in their quest to launch South African designer’s careers giving them the necessary skills to run a profitable fashion business.

The young talented designers “Spring Summer” limited range collection will be available at selected Foschini stores and their branded Capsule collections will be showcased at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa in Johannesburg in October.
