There is something to be said about the wisdom that comes from experience. Ford’s 116 year history in making cars does not go unfelt in their brand, and its way into the future.

Ford South Africa have launched their substantially revised 4th generation Focus, albeit only a facelift, it features more than a minor nip and tuck. Rather, it features new front and rear styling, new EcoBoost engines and interior upgrades. There are minor mechanical alterations- all-in-all making a better and more focused Focus.

The wisdom to create a great car, one that the CEO of Ford South Africa, Jeff Nemeth, proudly boasts as 'the world’s bestselling car', comes with years of experience. We've all heard the story of Ford's creator, Henry Ford, and his iconic, Model T Ford- taking us back to the turn of the century. Today, though not it’s officially its replacement, the Focus is a global car for the people of the world: themselves, their spouses, families and their journeys throughout life.

The Focus represents Ford's four pillars of belief: green, innovation, smartness and quality.

Designed as a 4-door sedan or 5-door hatch, the Focus’ compact yet generous dimensions give way to accommodating up to five adults, their odds and ends and a month’s groceries.

Innovation is a key proponent in the new Focus, featuring a voice activated command system and a self-parking system that allows a hands free parallel, ally docking or perpendicular manoeuvre. In fact, the Focus is even able to get its driver out of tight parking situations should you want or need the assistance. A true marvel are the engines fitted to the Focus: the three time engine of the year winner, 1.0 engine and the newer 1.5 unit. Both these engines offer outstanding performance, despite their petite size. Interestingly, the 1.0 has the same dimensions from above as an A4 piece of paper. But don't be fooled by the meagre size of these engines- dynamite really does come in small packages. The benefit of the EcoBoost engine technology comes in cost savings. The engines consume less fuel, produce lower CO2 emissions and are cheaper to produce. This genius in engineering saves the customer at the end of the day- see end of article for the Focus' outstanding value.

The Focus is available in two trim levels, Ambiente and Trend, with Trend models being the higher of the two in terms of spec levels. Adding to the cars host of features are additional aesthetic and safety packages which can be added to the cars list of endowments. These features range in price from R212 900 to R284 900

The Focus is available in a bouquet of colours, 10 to be exact, with Lunar Sky and Candy Red standing out as hero options.
