Day Birger has opened its first store in SA, at Hyde Park Corner with an exclusive launch which saw the who’s who of Jozi in attendance.  We were treated to scrumptious canapés from Vicky Crease Catering and listened to sweet tunes from Cara Frew….we even met owner Keld Mikkelsen himself!

 

DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN, a Danish brand for women founded by Keld Mikkelsen, is a luxurious mix of modern classics, embellished details, exquisite craftsmanship and inventive elements. A selection of essentials and eveningwear – with a contemporary take on everyday couture.

 

The DAY brand is defined by modern, classic and ethnic designs, expressed in a sexy, stylish way. As Keld describes it, “DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN is a fusion between near and far. Local and global. The sophistication of a jet setter mixed with the free spirit of a modern gypsy.”

 

DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN has three lines: DAY WOMEN Main Line, 2ND DAY and DAY HOME.

 

 DAY WOMEN Main Line

 

DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN’s WOMEN Main Line is a modern, classic, ethnic look full of intriguing contrasts, in a sexy, stylish expression. From exotic influences, vintage styles, tailoring inspired by men’s styling to inventive silhouettes – DAY’s timeless designs appeal to the creative spirit of metropolitan bohemians everywhere.

 

DAY WOMEN Main Line is further divided in to three groups:

 

The first group is Love EveryDAY. Love EveryDAY is a collection with bohemian suitings, quality knitwear and stylish jersey styles. Loving everyday means that you never go under-dressed or non-stylish.

 

The second group is The Collection and is a celebration of DAY’s true essence and DNA. It’s a mix of near and far that all together is put into an urban lifestyle. The collection has an intelligent evolution as main purpose and always represents craftsmanship, the ‘little’ detail and the complete expression.

 

The last and third category ‘ÈT’ is the accessories and primarily contains the well-known ‘Gweneth bag’ and the essential DAY scarves. The bags come in several sizes and themes. The scarves come in several prints and are one of the key items in the DAY look and styling.

 

2ND DAY

 

2ND DAY has always been an individual brand under the company umbrella, but with the new design concept, it has an even more distinct and independent style code. It was, and still is, a brand to go to for denim, leather and jersey, with the approach to future renewal; clean minimalism and raw elegance is the essence of the brand.

 

DAY HOME

 

Marianne Brandi is the creative spirit and head of design behind DAY HOME, the interior and lifestyle collection from DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN, a line of warm and inviting objects to adorn your home. The line is inspired by travels to Morocco, India, Africa, China, Indonesia and the Caribbean. Styled with a minimalistic, Scandinavian touch, DAY HOME is daily couture for your home.

 

Since opening their doors in 1997, DAY BIRGER ET MIKKELSEN has become a global design-driven company consisting of DAY WOMEN’s Main Line, a younger diffusion line called 2ND DAY launched in 2011 and a stunning interior design line called DAY HOME which was introduced in 2005.
