“Black and white, nothing dividing” is the description of one of our favourite stores in Parkhurst, Johannesburg.  Cow Artworks is a unique gallery specializing in only black and white photography which allows you to transcend into moments of time of complete strangers. 

 Black and white photography is a movie within itself, which offers new insight into the lives of others without ever meeting them, bringing a feeling of nostalgia and intrigue which is enough to make one bounce off the walls. Often reminded of old memories and then wishing to make new ones when walking into the “humble abode” of the minds of others. 

 The owner, Doreen Pfeiffer seemed to have the same thought when she first started the business in 2004 after an inspirational trip to Europe when she brought home a number of captivating black and white photographs from her travels.  Her friends envy and aspiration was the birth of Cow Artworks and she has since been flooded by demands for more.

Her creative eye has allowed her to source from the best both locally and internationally, offering affordable and romantic works of art guaranteed to bring warmth and interest to your home.  She offers a personal service too whereby she gains insight into your home and your personalities to understand your likes and dislikes and then recommends photographers work which gives a new meaning to the often complicated task of choosing artwork.
