Copper Crushing

My metallic of choice, copper gives warmth in its notes of rose gold and is so on trend! Here are some of my favourite copper accent accessories.

I’ll let you in on my new favourite design site which I literally stalk on Instagram- Design Twins. A Sydney based company whose main medium is concrete, hand make everything. Here is their Harden Up Cup, which is set in recycled moulds, and is also available in a range of crushed cups for an unconventional style.

And the Nugget pot, just a bit off beat! Of course referencing a real gold nugget, this objet is appealing in its unusual rendition of metallic, it’s not smooth and refined- its’ irregularity and rough complexion is what makes this piece.

Tom Dixon has become synonymous with modern design, particularly with his incredible lighting range. The Fat Spot light really caught my eye, its design was inspired by theatrical spot lights. Just to put it into context and show how ridiculously cool it is, see how it’s effortlessly placed on the floor of the lounge setting for the Elle Decoration UK cover, April 2014.

Another way to get a bit of Tom Dixon’s magical touch on a smaller scale would be a beautiful

London scented candle, encased in gorgeous copper with marble top/base, tres cool for your desk, bedside table or entrance hall.

A bit closer to home, I’m really exercising self-restraint to not indulge in this so chic so cool Mezzanine table lamp! So worth going to visit their beautiful new showroom on 7^th Avenue, Parktown North, Jhb.

A good side table isn’t always easy to find, but I am mad for this Anatomy Design Copper Tray Table. Clean, minimalistic and of course in our finish of choice. Another design favourite of ours is the Copper Mirror, a sophisticated and subtle way to incorporate this metallic. This was a serious find- the gorgeous beaten copper Ginger Jar from Mr Price Home. I purchased this piece for the love of copper and couldn’t be happier, an ultra affordable way to get the look!
