Elle Decor predicted that Brass will be a hot trend in interior design in 2013 and so the trend has finally arrived, albeit at the end of the year, in SA.  We’ve seen many of our favourite local decor stores stocked with the metal said to as precious as a monkey’s balls.

As designers are turning to the 70’s for inspiration, this trend which you last saw your parents splashing out on is back.  The truth is, in my opinion that the “new age” of brass, I’m much fonder of the modern pieces bringing in a dash of glam into your home.  “There is a warmth brass gives an interior, whether it be a modern or traditional space.  The golden hue of the metal provides a subtle, elegant gleam” says Marissa Marcantonio of Style Beat.

Brass, with it's sculptural weight, is having a comeback because it mixes well with other metals and it’s patina just gets better with age.  Aren’t you sad now that you shamelessly pawned your parents ol’ favourites?
