Images by Lauge SorensenCross dressing is a hot topic right now and veteran choreographer Adele Blank explores the idea in her latest piece, Cross Dress, by dressing the powerful male dancers from Joburg Ballet in women's clothing- costumes designed by Andrew Chandler for Black Coffee. Armed with corsets and plumes, the choreography is challenging so that the dancers' sexuality is not in question: they simply wear the beautiful clothes, which in no way detract from their masculinity. Cross Dress is part of the Celebration 7 programme at the Joburg Theatre, which runs until 13 September.

Also on at the Joburg Theatre is a scintillating performance of Don Quixote, which showcases the artistry and talent of all the dancers at Joburg Ballet- this is a world class company, and with tickets starting at R100, it should be supported by all dance lovers in Joburg.
