With the change of season it might be a good idea to step up on skin hydration as the drier weather can be awful for your skin.
On the high-end scale, I’ve discovered two great products to add to my usual routine-
The first is the Exuviance Deep Hydration Treatment, which as the name suggests, imparts moisture and smoothness to the skin because of some awesome ingredients. It’s got a light, gel-like texture and sinks into the skin very quickly- it’s suitable for all skin types- but especially for dry and dehydrated skins. Leave it on overnight ;(apply after cleansing, wait a few minutes before you apply your night cream). It’s packed with amino acids and Evening primrose oil which strengthen the skin’s protective barrier. It smells gorgeous too-due to Lilac Cell Culture extract, which is a powerful antioxidant.
Exuviance (R840) is available at medical skin clinics nationwide, or online at skinmiles.co.za or dermastore.co.za
The second goodie is Filorga’s Nutri-Filler lips, which as the name suggests, will help you with your pout. This skincare brand is always innovative, so don’t expect a regular lip balm! I adore the applicator- it’s a twist –up pen with a silicone, soft- touch tip and the balm is quite light and glossy- so, instant relief for dry lips but with extra benefits as expected: lips become thinner and paler as we age, so apart from the soy, castor and shea oils nourishing the lips, Filorga have added a peptide that stimulates collagen production and the formula also reacts with the lips’ PH level which revives the colour, making them look just bitten! Love it.
Nutri-Filler Lips is available at selected Edgars and Red Square stores and retails for R445.00 for the 4g twist-pen.
Yes, pricey, but there is a budget-friendly third product of choice for the dry, colder season: Epi-Max, found at Dis-Chem or Clicks. The brand has undergone a magnificent facelift, and the range accommodates all types of skin, from babies to grannies. These are excellent emollient products which soothe dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. I’ve been using the heavy duty Epi-max Plus foot cream on my heels every night (R40.95!) and have had great results. The products are absolutely unbeatable value for money.
Available at Clicks or Dis-chem nationwide.
