Beautiful Homes Made from Shipping Containers

Going Green has become a huge factor in today’s way of life, from fashion to home appliances and many more. But one thing I have never heard of is taking shipping containers and making them into what you would call an architectural invention.

Shipping Container Guest House

Because of this containers nature there is not a wide range of possibilities when it comes to interior design and decorating it, but as human nature’s characters, we like to try new and different things, so a challenge when it comes to this has turned out to be a great way of going green with something that is not attractive at all.

The container was painted blue, two sections of the container were cut and windows and sliding doors were mounted. Colourful and bold combinations fit in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. This unique residence idea and inventive design belongs to Poteet Architects.

Kalkin’s Shipping Container Homes.

With its huge structure, this massive building is not only one component, but is inclusive of smaller individual components that make the whole aspect look like a traditional house. The indoors is combined with the outdoors through massive sliding glass doors.

Painted Shipping Containers

Brazillian architect Marcio Kogan, created a rather impressive project, this maritime shipping containers home was birthed from the concept of making use of industrial elements that can be easily assembled and also in a short period of time. In order to deal with the limitations due to the predetermined size of the containers they stack the containers on top of one another.

Starbucks Made From Shipping Containers

So far we have witnessed shipping containers that have been fashioned into a residential home. But what about that certain business man who wants to achieve something different that your ordinary “shop like” effect? This idea came from the extensive use of these containers to ship their coffee and tea from all over the globe.

Maybe it is just the way that they wanted to associate their products with freshness, but at the end of the day, their design is interesting and innovative. Their new building can house only coffee machinery and a small working area for the employees made this a perfect choice. This alternative way is fast, easy and less expensive.

Maison Container by Patrick Partouche

French Architect Patrick Partouche designed a rather more complex project in 2010. Even though it has been fashioned from cargo containers, it imitates a traditional house and is approximately 2,240 square feet and costs around 221.000 euros to complete it.

It is made from multiple containers that have been cut into different sections in order to achieve larger interior space. Spacious and modern, this container includes amazing living solutions that have been implemented by metallic stairways and bridges.

It has plenty of sunlight which makes each metallic corner shine highlighting the industrial theme.

Containers of Hope, a $40,000 Home by Benjamin Garcia Saxe

Benjamin Garcia Saxe built a $40,000 place in Costa Rica. This particular project concentrates more on the idea of a commune with nature than actually building aspects. This chic and modern  house takes a small amount of materials and space to function.

Including sunlight and sunset, comfort and style is all we need to have a happy living environment.   In order to achieve this, we only need 1,000 square feet.

In my eyes, this is definitely a place for the soul, whereby one can experience peace and tranquility. It has the best surroundings, with an intimate feel of class and luxury. Hard to believe that one can achieve this with using two shipping containers.

Shipping Container House in El Tiemblo

Inclusive of four 40 feet long shipping containers, this residential project looks great on the inside and out. It was designed by studio James & Mau Arquitectura and built by Infiniski. This warming residence is located in the province of Ávila, Spain and it was named “Casa El Tiamblo”.

The most appreciated area of this place is probably the lower level, well in my books, as it features sliding doors that open to the patio. Furniture, good ventilation, comfort , modern and stylish aspects are all a part of this amazing apartment.

First Shipping Container House in Mojave Desert by Ecotech Design

Ecotech Design introduces their version of a shipping container house which is located in the Mojave Desert, it has 2,300 square feet structured into a one bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom 6 containers residence.

I never thought that a shipping container would offer what a house generally does. But this one does, this unique design features a stylish interior, with open space solutions that allow for plenty of light, seems like this designer had eco on the mind!

With the combination of  high-energy efficiency and mass-production modular structures, this a low-cost, sustainable house system that one with design and interior decorating that one would only really see on top billing, except for the fact that it is a shipping container.

Five Shipping Containers Into a Cozy Modern Home

Two main elements that have been combined throughout this project: open space and shipping containers. The shocking array of brightness, arrangement and class allow for a comfortable living space. I could most certainly do with living in 5 shipping containers that adds a total of 2,600 square feet, with more additions of a green roof, geothermal heating and high-tech foam insulation that makes for the best living conditions at the moment.

A real everyday home for a happy family, this fun and imaginative is the essence of this project, and I love it! The cold metal industrial style has been dramatically diminished by bright, vivid, luminescent colours with the modern and classy feel that the furniture adds. It integrates perfectly within the norms of society, a great design!

Shipping Container Conversion by building Lab Inc

Designer Stephen Schoup built this new work area for his concerns specifically for the environment and sustainability, due to these aspects, he opted for the unusual and unique essence in order to create the L – shaped shipping container office by Lab inc.

Eco-Friendly Crossbox House by CG Architectes

French Architects Clément Gillet inpose their preferences regarding design and the container house phenomenon, they have built an eco-friendly prefabricated single prefabricated residence with the main ingredient, shipping containers of course.

Being a prototype of a modular industrial house, the final product is approximately 1,120 square feet and aims to build low cost architect houses that focus on the environment at the same time. Its biggest success is the fact that it is a simple design.

The entrance with wooden flooring is amidst a well finished outcome with bright colours and amazingly sophisticated furniture that tends to create an impression of vast space and warmth.

Week house from shipping containers

When it comes to real estate, prices have a tendency to skyrocket, continuously, but thank goodness we have been afforded alternatives. Jure Kotonik designed a two story, 300 square foot container house that allows for huge benefits to their owners. It has a very low end price compared to traditional housing, it is assembled in a matter of days, and the best of it all…it is easy to move.

To better describe it, it’s basically a mini housing solution that offers the basic conditions for living, but it has the benefits of being a stylish investment, the pink-dotted façade illustrates the fact that it is versatile, and can be designed according to what you as an owner require. The interior can be furnished stylish but in a very minimalistic way, and best of all, the upper floor can only be accessed through an adjustable staircase.

Alterra Beach Resort Uses Shipping Containers For Private Glamping Cabins

Most of the people that are into the idea of container housing, are basically the people that built and designed the structures for their own personal use. Architect Clorindo Testa gave us this great opportunity, Alterra Glamping is a natural resort  near the Pinamar beach in Argentina that combines relaxation, art and sustainability through shipping containers that are used as private cabins.

Originally, the resort was an art gallery, but now it is a place for tranquillity with pure paradise all around, for best conditions, a relaxing experience, a getaway, a whatever you want to call it will cost you $US 1,100 per week.
