After we all witnessed the new Duchess of Cambridge, Katherine Middleton’s marriage, there was no turning back after that homerun of a wedding dress. Through the years we have seen many a wedding dress come and go, but at the same time we have also seen those badly designed gowns. Some of the celebrities featured below were not quite as lucky. The years passed have seen some of our favourite celebrities walk down the aisle in what many would say “horrific”.

Princess Diana

She topped many fashion trends on best dressed list, but unfortunately her wedding gown didn't make it as far. The petite princess looked lost and was swallowed up under yards of taffeta designed by Elizabeth Emanuel.

Pamela Anderson

Not shy about showing her assets in a white, two piece thong bikini when she wed Kid Rock.

Britney Spears

Her famous 2004 Vegas wedding to a childhood friend, indeed lasted less than 24 hours, but she  wores outfit plus a hat so that she could not be recognized. The wedding ended quickly...hopefully the wedding dress did too

Celine Dion

She’s sold millions of albums worldwide and has a voice of an angel, but unfortunately the volume of the dress and the matching headpiece wasnt as stunning.

Marilyn Monroe

This blond bombshell did the exact opposite and wore a black skirt suit when she wed famous baseball hall of famer, Joe DiMaggio.

Mariah Carey

Apparently her ex-husband, music exec Tommy Mottola made all the decisions about the wedding including the Vera Wang dress she wore. Mariah said the princess Di dress inspired her and had Ms. Wang replicate it. The wedding dress was as big a hit as Mariah’s film debut, Glitter.

Elizabeth Taylor

With six marriages down, two of which was to fellow thespian Richard Burton. One would think that at least the sixth time round...the dress would be better. Maybe location (Kenyan safari) was the key influence.

Thank goodness her husband comedian Russell Brand has a good sense of humour. You have to with a pink, bedazzled and assymetrical dress with an oversized bow?
