Colour Code

Gorgeous model Afroditi poses for Canada-born photographer Timothy Lee’s sexy series Colour Code.

Lee shares that it is the expression and details that matters most when capturing a photo. Oddly enough, he does not consider himself a photographer or graphic designer. Instead, he believes that he is an "image maker" who will use any tool available to to best capture an image.

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011- Shoes

Designer Marc Jacobs told journalists after the show, “We were thinking about obsession, fetishism, and we thought about an old hotel, with its chambermaids and the affairs that go on there, the crimes and scandals. And we just wanted to reveal all the amazing creatures who passed through there.” Sticking to classic black and white, with flourishes of red, yellow,…

Louis Vuitton Fall 2011: Kate Moss Closes the Show

Kate Moss has never been one to follow rules and yesterday was no exception when she ignored the ban - and No Smoking Day - and lit up on the catwalk.

Walking for Louis Vuitton at Paris Fashion Week, Kate indulged her bad habit and proved she's still got it in a pair of tight hot pants and bondage-style lace-up boots.

Moss, who…

Fictional Cape Town

"Cape Town has a surprisingly large film industry," says Cecila Mella on her website. "It’s not like Bollywood or Nollywood (Nigeria), where homegrown feature-stories dominate. Most shoots are in fact advertisements for foreign companies selling everything from chewing gum to yoghurt (the favourable exchange rate and sunny climate make it worth the long trip to the tip of Africa). What is…

Me Here Now.

Me human. Me man. Me musician. Me artist. Me uncle. Me here now.

To even my own amazement, I have been living away from Jozi for 4 years now. In that time I've figured out how to become totally water self-sufficient - off the municipal grid and onto raintanks - I have learnt to drum - fulfilling a childhood dream - and am now in a band performing 5 gigs at the upcoming Grahamstown ArtsFest (which is also where I now live), have participated daily in the upbringing of my niece…

Laurice Taitz - Buntman

Laurice Taitz, one of our favourite Joburg fundis, spent time with us unlocking some of her own and Johannesburg's scintillating secrets.

What do you love doing in Joburg?

Discovering new places. I treat the city like it's a playground with a treasure hunt going on in it.…

                  Expansion by Paige Bradley

"From the moment we are born, the world tends to have a container already built for us to fit inside: A social security number, a gender, a race, a profession or an I.Q. I ponder if we are more defined by the container we are in, rather than what we are inside. Would we recognize ourselves if we…

Giorgio Armani - Spring 2012

Armani Means Business–Focus was at the core of Giorgio Armani’s showing for the spring 2012 season. Setting the stage for one uniform, suiting was dissected for a wardrobe of varied proportions. From fitted jackets and dropped crotch lines to billowing silhouettes, the Armani man was afforded a relaxed pacing. Pairing down light silk, linen and wool with casual sneakers, the collection…

Street Style

Photo taken during the Milan Fashion week.

Shoelosophy notes: I see a prominent trend emerging for SA Spring 2011, pastel coloured peep toe sandals with bright socks.

Do I love? Initially no, but the more I look at this trend, the more I like it. Of course it has to be worn by a particular person. Not the look that anyone can pull…

Nick Knight Photographer

A very good friend of mine introduced me to Nick Knights work and I must say this photographer has an extraordinary vision and eye for movement. His images dance and flow with strong yet gentle gestures. He has consistently challenged conventional notions of beauty.

Indeed, in his 30-plus year…

Short Shorts Hit the Runway- Milan Fashion week

Shorts of every variety and color exploded out of the gates at D&G, where Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent down the runway a series of burlap shorts, flowing silk shorts, and, of course, extravagantly-printed shorts. For the finale, shirtless models came out in a parade of short shorts.
