The title of In Toto Gallery’s second thematic exhibition She@InToto is a reference to the prominent exhibition elles@centrepompidou held at the Centre Pompidou in 2009. While She@InToto features only female artists who have, on highly individual levels, explored facets of their own ideas of femininity, the Parisian exhibition involved the re-hanging of its collection of modern and contemporary art highlighting the works by women artists.

Elles@centrepompidou inspired this exhibition in the way that it did not endeavour to make elaborate assertions about gender inequalities in significant arts institutions or to attempt to rework the modern history of women’s art. What it intended to do was expose the exceptional skill of female artists and to display the pieces for the public’s contemplation and enjoyment. In addition to celebrating the artistic talent of our women artists, She@InToto means to address the female experience of local, international, historical and contemporary female artists.

She@InToto incorporates a diverse range of art in terms of mediums, styles, periods and concepts to take a more thoughtful look at the space occupied by women in the culture of the last century. You will not encounter simply sweet pieces, but rather you will discover stimulating and astonishing art by courageous and ground-breaking artists.

Georgia O’Keefe’s quote "I feel there is something unexplored about women that only a woman can explore” has become an iconic phrase that resonates with not only female artists, but every woman. She@InToto aims to be not just another exhibition of women's art, but a re-thinking of the way that women experience the world they live in.
